Obituary of Raymond Lewis Gilmore

Raymond L. Gilmore, 87, husband of Irene “Tenny” Laprad Gilmore, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. He was the son of the late Albert L. and Iris Moler Gilmore. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leon Gilmore and Oscar McKinney and a sister-in-law, Connie Gilmore.

Raymond was retired from Pepsi Cola Company after 43 years of service. He was an active member of Hope Bible Church and previously of Washington Heights Grace Brethren Church. He was a dedicated and loving husband and father who loved and who was loved greatly by his family.

In addition to his wife of 66 years he will be missed and remembered by his children, Raymond Gilmore, Jr., Robin Scordas (Rick), Linda Hentschel (Dan), Rita Medley (Tommy), Lauren Hinkle (Brian); 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill Gilmore (Brenda), and Richard Gilmore; as well as numerous other loving family members.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, February 5, 2022 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, with Rev. Don Eschelman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:30. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Hope Bible Church, 5512 Hollins Road, Roanoke, VA 24019.
