Obituary of Robert Smith

Robert Elva “Bob” Smith 85 of Roanoke went to be with the Lord on Monday April 2, 2018. His daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Charlie Proctor, preceded him.

Mr. Smith proudly served in the United States Air Force. After the military, he retired after 35 years of service as a Police Officer with the Roanoke City Police Department. Then went to back to work and served 15 years as a United States Deputy Marshall. He was a member of Red Hill Church of the Brethren, and served as a Deacon for 20 years. And a member of  the Masons Lakeland Lodge for 60 years, and a member of the Kazim Shrine Circus Tramp Unit for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed making hand carved walking sticks and canes. He always had a joke for you when you met him, a very loving husband, father, and friends who will be dearly missed by all.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 64 years, Hazel Smith; daughter, Terry Smith Stoots and husband Gary;  sister-in-law, Sandra Barnette; grandchildren, Chevi Moseley and husband Jason, Troy Dunman; great grandchildren, Bailey Coulter, Tegan Dunman, Kennedy Moseley, and McKenzie Moseley. Along with a host of other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the charity of your choice in Mr. Smith’s name.
