Barbara Hensley Simpson, 88, of Roanoke went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 28, 2023.
Barbara worked for many years as a Registered Nurse at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was a Charter Member of St. Philip Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her daughters, Tina (Paul) Hatcher, Lisa (Andy) Ward Greer; grandchildren, Tadd (Courtney) Hatcher, Trey (Ellen) Hatcher, and Lauren N. (Tony) Handy; brother, Allen Gray (Carolyn) Hensley; nephews and niece, Michael Hensley, Robin Graves, Christopher Hensley; and her significant other of 37 years, Larry Payne. Also surviving is Barbara’s first great grandchild who is expected to arrive in the next few weeks.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Barbara’s devoted caregivers, Larry Payne and Andy Ward.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2023 at St. Philip Lutheran Church 8115 Williamson Road with Pastor David Derrick officiating. The family will receive friends at a brief reception following the service. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home. 540-366-0707
